Automatic Watermarks on Telegram Photos and Videos
How to automatically add a watermark logo to every photo, video and video note when auto-posting on Telegram: size and position in percent, opacity, conditions.
Contents
A watermark protects your content and works as an ad for your channel: the logo travels with the image wherever it gets forwarded. CopyPost adds it automatically to everything that passes through a pipeline.
Prepare the image #
A PNG with a transparent background works best: a logo or text without a backdrop. JPEG and WebP work too. File size — up to 2 MB, resolution — any: the image is scaled to fit each photo.
Upload it in the Watermarks section.
Add a “Watermark” rewrite #
In the pipeline editor, add a rewrite and choose “Watermark”:
- Width — a share of the photo or video width. 15–25% is usually enough.
- Horizontal / Vertical — position in percent: 0 is at the left (top) edge, 100 at the right (bottom) edge. The bottom-right corner is 100 and 100, the center is 50 and 50.
- Opacity — 60–80% looks neat and doesn’t cover up the image.
- Apply to — photos, videos, GIFs and video notes separately.
Percentages are the key convenience: the same watermark looks the same on a vertical video and a horizontal photo.
What happens to videos #
Videos are re-encoded to H.264 with the sound preserved and optimized for streaming — Telegram shows them right away without waiting for a download. GIFs have their sound removed, as an animation should.
Speed #
A photo with a watermark is ready in a fraction of a second, a short video in a few seconds. Album files are processed in parallel, not one after another. Speed is the same on every plan.
Conditions #
Like any rewrite, a watermark can have conditions. For example, add the logo only to photos without
a caption, or only to messages with the #exclusive hashtag.
Combined with conversion #
Watermarks work together with conversions: you can turn a video into a video note and put the watermark on the finished video note. More in the article on media conversion.
