A Telegram Channel Mirror That Repeats Edits, Deletions and Pins
How to mirror a Telegram channel so the copy stays in sync: edited posts are edited in the copy, deleted ones are deleted, pinned ones get pinned.

Regular auto-posting copies a post once — at the moment it’s published. But authors fix typos, delete posts that didn’t work out and change the pinned message. If your Telegram channel mirror doesn’t repeat this, within a week it’s full of mistakes that disappeared from the original long ago. Here’s how to build a mirror that stays an exact copy.
When you need it #
- A backup channel in case the main one gets blocked or you lose access to it.
- Regional copies of a channel with a different name and links.
- A channel and its discussion group, where the posts need to match.
- A partner feed, where your news is published in a partner’s channel.
How CopyPost maintains the copy #
CopyPost remembers which copy matches which source post and keeps watching it:
| In the source | In the copy |
|---|---|
| A post was edited | the copy is edited: the text and, if it changed, the file |
| A post was deleted | the copy is deleted |
| A post was pinned or unpinned | the copy is pinned or unpinned |
| Someone replied to a post | the reply becomes a reply to the copy |
| A post links to another post in the source | the link points to the matching copy |
If after an edit a post no longer passes the pipeline’s filters (for example, an ad was added to it), the copy is deleted. The “post → copy” mapping is kept for 30 days — edits to older posts are no longer carried over.
Setup #
- Connect the account that reads the source channel and the account that posts to the mirror. This can be a single account or, for example, a user account for reading and a bot for posting — details in the article userbot or bot.
- Create a pipeline: the source is the original, the recipient is the mirror.
- Choose “Copy” mode. This matters: in “Forward” mode, Telegram doesn’t allow changes to a forwarded message, so edits are not carried over to the mirror.
The same steps are described in detail in the article on channel-to-channel auto-posting.
A user account or a bot for reading #
Telegram notifies a user account about edits, deletions and pins right away — the mirror updates in a fraction of a second.
For bots, Telegram reports edits in channels with a delay and doesn’t report deletions at all. CopyPost makes up for this: every 5 minutes the bot itself rechecks the source’s messages from the last two days and regularly checks what’s pinned in the channel. Deletions and unpins will come through, just not instantly. If the mirror’s accuracy matters, read the source with a user account.
Mirror chains #
A mirror of a mirror (A → B → C) only receives what people wrote in B: copies that CopyPost itself published in B don’t go any further — that’s how protection against endless loops works. To get A’s posts into C, add C as a second recipient of the pipeline from A. The panel won’t let you link channels into a ring (A → B → A).
What else you can do in a mirror #
- replace links and mentions with your own — text rewrites;
- put your logo on photos and videos — watermarks;
- block the original’s ads — filters.
A mirror takes a couple of minutes to set up in the CopyPost panel, and pipelines are free and unlimited.
